white-house-logo-final-hed-2016The White House has unveiled a new program to dramatically expand the accessibility of solar and energy efficiency programs to low- and moderate-income Americans. The Clean Energy Savings For All Initiative expands the Obama Administration’s initial target of installing 100 megawatts of renewable energy on federally-assisted affordable housing by 2020 ten-fold to 1 gigawatt. The initiative is a cross-agency effort between the Departments of Energy, Housing and Urban Development, Agriculture, Health and Human Services, Veteran’s Affairs and the Environmental Protection Agency. In a statement, the White House said the initiative “will result in lower energy bills, more empowered consumers, and cleaner communities.”
