Development of a  4-megawatt solar farm in rural Mississippi has brought a number of benefits to Chickasaw County and the northeastern part of the state. Project developers hired around 75 people, many of them locals, to build the Ranch Solar Farm north of Houston, the solar panels were purchased from a Mississippi supplier, and financing was arranged through local banks. Once final testing is complete in July, the solar farm will provide enough carbon-free electricity to power more than 400 local homes and businesses.
